RiverStreet projects service to thousands in Charlotte County with target completion early 2025

Rob Taylor of RiverStreet introduced Michael Brown, the company's head of construction, who outlined the broadband build plan for Charlotte County on Nov. 15.
Brown provided counts for serviceable addresses by community: Phenix (2,027), Wylliesburg (1,752) and Charlotte Court House (2,553). He said 106 of 252 cable miles are completed for the areas referenced and that construction in Wylliesburg and Charlotte Court House is scheduled to start in January 2024 with customer activations anticipated in the second quarter of 2024. Brown said the company's target for completion across Charlotte County is early 2025.
Supervisor Hazel Bowman Smith raised constituent concerns that some addresses are not showing as serviceable in RiverStreet's system; Taylor asked her to provide address details by email so staff could follow up. Supervisor Will Garnett suggested composing a letter of support to legislators to emphasize the importance of broadband access for county residents.
The update provides a construction timetable and an operational target the county can use to monitor RiverStreet's progress and to coordinate constituent outreach on address eligibility.
