American Fuji Seal recently purchased just under 9 acres within the park for $669,422; Catawba County's share of the land sale proceeds is $334,711. Separately, the partners expect reimbursement of $1.3 million in NCDOT grant funds for transportation improvements; Catawba County's half of the anticipated reimbursement is $650,000.
Staff recommended and the Board approved appropriating the combined $984,711 into the Trivium Corporate Center capital project for direct project expenses. Commissioner Robert C. Abernethy, Jr. moved the appropriation; the motion passed unanimously.
Staff said current site work is concentrated on Trivium East (108 acres) and that the funds will be used to support ongoing development activities; no project expenditure specifics were listed in the meeting minutes.
