The Catawba County Board of Commissioners on Nov. 17 adopted a resolution declaring the total cost for road improvements in Langdon Ridge subdivision to be $30,146.52, directed preparation of a preliminary assessment roll and set a public hearing on the roll for Dec. 15, 2025 (Resolution No. 2025‑42).
Under the county's petition‑driven program to bring private roads up to NCDOT standards for acceptance into the state's secondary road maintenance program, property owners petition with at least 75% signatory support and sufficient frontage. The county provides up‑front financing and recovers costs through a 10‑year special assessment if the project proceeds.
For Langdon Ridge the basis of assessment is eight subdivision lots, producing an individual assessment of $3,768.32 per lot. Property owners may pay the amount as a lump sum or elect 10 annual payments with 1.5% interest, equal to $408.61 per year. Staff said the preliminary assessment roll will be filed in the Clerk's office and notices mailed to all affected owners before the Dec. 15 public hearing.
The Board also authorized petitioning NCDOT to accept Langdon Road into the Secondary Road Maintenance Program once the statutory steps are complete and NCDOT confirms road acceptance.
