At its April 28 meeting the Durham County Board of County Commissioners unanimously approved several procedural and budget items, including the agenda, prior meeting minutes and a multi-item consent agenda that contained capital project amendments, budget ordinance amendments, contract renewals and tax releases.
Key votes and outcomes: • Agenda approval: Commissioner Michelle Burton moved, Vice Chair Dr. Mike Lee seconded; motion carried unanimously. • Minutes: Commissioner Stephen Valentine moved to approve the April 7 and April 14 minutes; Vice Chair Dr. Mike Lee seconded; motion carried unanimously. • Consent agenda (approved unanimously, moved by Commissioner Wendy Jacobs, seconded by Commissioner Stephen Valentine): notable items included Capital Project Amendment 25CPA-38 appropriating $2,000,000 of North Carolina Public School Lottery Fund funding for playground renovations and replacements at eight Durham County elementary schools; Capital Project Amendment 25CPA-40 and Budget Ordinance Amendment 25BCC-088 appropriating $1,750,000 and transferring sewer enterprise funds to three lift station projects; Capital Project Amendment 25CPA-41 appropriating $558,485 for an ongoing countywide equipment replacement project; approval of property tax releases and refunds for March 2025 (total $259,054.82); and a $51,016.64 contract renewal with Info-Tech Research Group.
The Board made appointments to several boards and commissions; Larissa Williamson announced voting results and the appointees were named on the record. The Board then voted to adjourn into Closed Session under G.S. 143-318.11(a)(4) to discuss economic development negotiations and later reconvened and adjourned the Regular Session at 9:14 p.m.
All recorded motions in the meeting carried unanimously; no votes failed or were tabled during the public session.
