The Catawba County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 16 adopted Resolution No. 2026-4 confirming the Final Assessment Roll for road improvements in the Mountain Creek Ridge subdivision. Utilities and Engineering Director Peter Shonka reported the project’s total cost at $235,107.30 and said the assessment basis is the number of subdivision lots at the time the petition was submitted (46 lots), producing an individual assessment of $5,111.03 per lot.
Property owners may pay the assessment in full, without interest, on or before Feb. 16, 2027, or elect to pay in ten annual installments bearing 1.5% annual interest; the first annual installment (prior to interest) is $554.21 with interest applied thereafter. The process follows statutory steps set out in Chapter 153A of the North Carolina General Statutes; in adopting the Final Assessment Roll the Board directed the County Clerk to deliver the roll to the Tax Administrator and ordered publication of a confirmation notice to explain payment options.
Chair Isenhower opened the advertised public hearing; nobody spoke and the hearing was closed. Commissioner Robert C. Abernethy, Jr. moved to adopt the resolution confirming the assessment roll and authorizing collection; the motion passed unanimously.
