The Durham County Board of Commissioners on April 7 unanimously authorized the county manager to enter into a $535,000 contract with Premier Sports Lighting LLC to replace and upgrade the field lighting system at Memorial Stadium.
Commissioner Stephen Valentine moved to suspend the rules and then moved the authorization; Commissioner Michelle Burton seconded both motions. The Board recorded unanimous approval on each motion.
The vote will allow the county to proceed with replacement and upgrade work; staff did not provide additional construction or timeline details during the work session. The authorization was made during the Board’s work session as part of its review of discussion items ahead of the April 14 regular meeting.
The Board took up the lighting authorization immediately before presentations from local partners and adjourned following the afternoon agenda.
