What was approved: The consent package (approved unanimously) included: authority to enter contracts for purchase of books and cataloging/processing services (not to exceed $760,000); a contract with Wall Recycling, LLC for solid waste hauling and maintenance (not to exceed $128,000); a capital project amendment adding $637,195 to the Emergency Operations Center & Backup 911 project; and other budget ordinance amendments and contract increases for fire services, elections equipment, curbside recycling, transit tracker services and fleet maintenance design services.
On the Durham BRT Vision Plan question: Commissioner Wendy Jacobs asked how the FAST Study would incorporate the five Durham Bus Rapid Transit routes identified by NCDOT. Transportation Planner Curtis Scarpignatio replied that the FAST Study included Durham County, would incorporate NCDOT-identified routes, planned high levels of public engagement and would compare findings with other BRT corridors.
Vote and next steps: Commissioner Jacobs moved to approve the consent agenda, seconded by Vice Chair Dr. Mike Lee; the motion carried unanimously. Contracting and budget staff will proceed with executing the authorized agreements and amendments.
