Parma Heights council approves collective bargaining agreement with Fraternal Order of Police

Councilwoman DeSouza moved to suspend the rules and Councilwoman Maruschak seconded; Clerk Allen called roll and the suspension, and subsequently the ordinance passage, were recorded with ayes from Durichko, Walsh, Stavole, Haase, Maruschak, DeSouza and Rounds and no nays. The council declared the ordinance passed under the emergency motion.
Finance Director Iaconis had introduced the bargaining agreement earlier in the meeting during departmental reports and asked that it be considered with one reading; council action that evening implemented that request. The ordinance language read at the meeting authorizes the administration to execute the collective bargaining agreement with the Fraternal Order of Police (Patrolmen).
Also on the agenda were readings of other legislative items: Ordinance No. 2023-32 (amending Chapter 1301 to adopt the Residential Code of Ohio) is on its second reading; Ordinance/Resolution No. 2023-33 (amending Section 351.13, "parking of commercial vehicles") and Resolution No. 2023-34 (authorizing disposal of obsolete city vehicles via GovPlanet/IronPlanet) were read for their first readings and were not acted on that night.
