County approves budget items, personnel step increase and $13,000 opioid-settlement grant

At its Jan. 20 meeting the Clearwater County Board authorized several budgetary and personnel actions and approved a recommended opioid-settlement distribution.
The Board approved the 2026 Ditch Fund budget as presented and approved a step increase for Lisa Syverson to Range 26 step 7, effective Feb. 25, 2026. The minutes show the Board authorized the County Auditor to pay submitted invoices; the Public Health Fund payment is recorded as $68,334.93 while the County Revenue Fund total in the minutes appears to contain a typographical error and is not clear as printed.
On the recommendation of the Opioid Settlement Committee, the Board approved dispersal of $13,000 in opioid-settlement funds to Northern Minnesota Addiction Wellness Center; Allen Paulson presented the recommendation on behalf of Public Health staff. The Board also approved a resolution establishing minimum salaries for elected officials and granted a 2026 tobacco license to Galen’s Inc.
In addition, the Board authorized payment of $2,595.57 to Westerman’s Repair for server-room air-conditioning repairs, to be paid from the Buildings & Grounds account. The minutes list numerous vendors and claims over $2,000 as part of the claims register filed with the minutes.
