Court approves Road & Bridge equipment financing, emergency MSAG roadway additions and related fees

Brewster County approved financing for a 2025 Caterpillar motor grader, added several roadways to the county MSAG database for 9-1-1, and approved Sheriff and Constable fees for FY 2026 during the Aug. 26 meeting.
The Brewster County Commissioners Court approved purchase and/or financing of a 2025 Caterpillar 140SW motor grader on Aug. 26, 2025. The purchase will be made from the quoted vendor with a $150,000 down payment from the LATCF fund and a five-year lease; the court approved the motion 5-0. Johnny Salcido, Road & Bridge superintendent, presented the department’s report prior to the vote.
The court also approved adding several existing county and Big Bend National Park roadways to the Master Street Address Guide (MSAG) used for 9-1-1 dispatch accuracy: Cinnabar Road (between FM 170 and Allen Lane), Tres Palmas (off Agua Fria Road), Fossil Discovery Road (off Park Route 11 in Big Bend National Park) and RGV Campground Road (off Berkley Cottage Road). The 9-1-1 GIS Coordinator, Kayse Muratori, presented the additions and provided a program update; all four roadway additions were approved 5-0.
Commissioner Ruben Ortega moved to approve the Sheriff and Constable fee schedule for FY 2026; Commissioner Colando seconded and the court approved the fee schedule unanimously. These actions together fund road operations, update emergency response addressing and set fees for law-enforcement services for the coming fiscal year.
