Brewster County Judge Greg P. Henington and the Commissioners Court adopted the county’s FY 2026 budget and set the Tax Year 2025 combined rate at 0.370007 on Aug. 26, 2025. The court recorded unanimous 5-0 votes on the budget and tax-rate motions.
Judge Henington presented the proposed FY 2026 budget during a public hearing; no public comments were offered. The court then took a record vote to adopt the budget as presented. The court also ratified an increase in property tax revenue and set the Maintenance & Operation tax rate at 0.352263 and the Interest & Sinking rate at 0.017744, with all votes recorded as "Aye." Judge Henington read the Tax Rate Order into the record and the court approved the order 5-0.
As part of routine fiscal actions tied to the budget, the court approved a $300,000 transfer from the LATCF fund to the Road & Bridge fund for FY 2026 to support road operations and projects. Comptroller Malynda Richardson presented payable, receipt, and budget amendment registers; the court approved those registers and a Kempner Equipment invoice for approximately $7,800–$7,900 to be paid from leftover project funds.
The court also approved the Treasurer’s June and July monthly reports. The meeting record shows all budget and tax-related motions were moved by Judge Henington or commissioners and passed unanimously. The court scheduled its next regular meeting for Sept. 9, 2025.
