Brewster County Commissioners on July 22 approved a package of financial and administrative items, including a two-year extension of the Terlingua Common School District’s subdepository contract with West Texas National Bank, adoption of fee schedules, approval of budget line-item adjustments, and authorization of an engagement letter for the FY2024 external audit.
Regan Reed, superintendent of the Terlingua Common School District, requested the two-year bank extension and Commissioner Ruben Ortega moved to approve it; Commissioner Sara Colando seconded and the motion passed 5-0. County Treasurer Julie Morton presented the fees-of-office report; the Court approved the District Clerk and County Clerk fee schedules (motions passed 5-0).
Assistant Comptroller Paty Saenz presented expenses and budget adjustments. The Court approved the expenses as presented and approved the line-item adjustments; the minutes record Commissioner Ortega abstained on the Pinnacle Propane payment. Commissioner Ortega moved to approve the engagement letter with Singleton, Clark & Company, PC for the FY2024 external audit, Commissioner Colando seconded, and the motion passed 5-0.
The Court also noted a $500 check from the Chili Appreciation Society International was a permit fee for a mass-gathering permit application rather than a donation. No additional fiscal details or contract amounts for the audit engagement were provided in the public record.
