Brewster County places employee on administrative leave, accepts resignation after closed session

County Judge Greg P. Henington told the Brewster County Commissioners Court on July 22 that the body had met in closed session under Section 551.074 of the Texas Government Code and took personnel action when the meeting returned to open session.
The Court voted 5-0 to place Melissa Bergstrom on administrative leave with pay through Aug. 22 and to accept a previously submitted resignation, Judge Henington moved the action and Commissioner Sara Colando seconded the motion.
The action followed the court’s recess into a closed meeting at 11:10 a.m.; the Court reconvened at 11:38 a.m. No additional details concerning the personnel matter were placed on the public record at the time of the vote. The Court scheduled its next regular meeting for Aug. 12, 2025 at 9:30 a.m.
