Brewster County adds Big Bend National Park trails to 9-1-1 addressing database and approves new road name

Brewster County Commissioners on June 10 approved adding all 120 hiking trails in Big Bend National Park to the county Master Street Addressing Guide (MSAG), a change the court said will bring park trail data into the county’s 9-1-1 addressing system. Kayse Muratori, the county’s 9-1-1 GIS coordinator, presented the proposal and said the trail data was provided by the National Park Service. Judge Greg P. Henington moved to approve the addition and the motion passed 5-0.
In a separate MSAG action, Muratori presented a request to formally name a roadway located off Agua Fria Road. Commissioner Sara Allen Colando moved to name the roadway CESARIA CREEK ROAD; Commissioner Ruben Ortega seconded and the motion passed 5-0.
County officials described the actions as updates to the Master Street Addressing Guide and MSAG database rather than operational changes to park management. Muratori listed additional program updates for the county’s GIS and addressing efforts but did not request immediate additional funding during the meeting.
The court did not record additional conditions or follow-up deadlines for the MSAG changes; the items will appear in the official minutes and implementation will proceed through the county’s GIS and 9-1-1 processes.
