Brewster County Commissioners approve interlocal funding for 83rd District Attorney, grants, repairs and routine budget moves

The Brewster County Commissioners Court on Jan. 14 approved a series of routine fiscal and administrative actions, including a $94,890 interlocal agreement to support the 83rd District Attorney's office and a reallocation of project funds to repair 22 county roll-up doors.
County Judge Greg P. Henington presented the interlocal agreement with Pecos County to fund the 83rd District Attorney in the amount of $94,890; Commissioner Sara Colando moved to approve the agreement and the motion passed 4-0. Judge Henington also reported an estimate of $6,500 from a vendor to maintain and repair 22 county-owned overhead roll-up doors, noting three doors were currently inoperable. The Court voted 4-0 to reallocate unexpended project funds for that maintenance.
The Court approved submitting a FY2024 Operation StoneGarden reimbursement grant application intended to support border-security-related reimbursements. Commissioners also reappointed Jim Hines and Marcos Paredes to the Emergency Services District No. 1 board for the 2025–2027 terms and approved a $2,500 bond for Brewster County Attorney Marisol Skelton.
Comptroller Malynda Richardson presented and the Court approved general bills, budget amendments and line-item adjustments; motions on those financial items carried 4-0. The Court ratified a non-financial amendment to the county's agreement with Tyler Technologies. County Treasurer Julie Morton presented the November 2024 monthly report, which the Court approved, and announced W-2 distribution to employees on Jan. 17, 2025.
Judge Henington moved to approve the Tourism Council's recommended slate of 2025 board members and officers; Commissioner Jim Westermann seconded and the motion passed 3-0, per the record. The Court also renewed the county burn ban for 45 days.
The meeting included presentations from the county extension agent and the Road & Bridge superintendent; no formal action was taken on those reports. The meeting adjourned at 11:23 a.m.
