Burleson County approves purchase of 1516 FM 166; plans to move Extension Office

Burleson County Commissioners Court on Jan. 8 unanimously approved the purchase of a parcel at 1516 FM 166 and announced plans to relocate the county Extension Office there after minor remodeling.
County Judge Keith Schroeder opened the meeting and later reported the planned moves: the Extension Office will transfer to the newly acquired site and the county’s elections operations will move into the Extension Office’s current location. The court approved the property purchase following executive-session deliberations under Texas Government Code Section 551.072.
Commissioner Dwayne Faust moved to approve the purchase; Commissioner Robert (Bobby) Urbanosky seconded the motion, and the court voted all aye. The agenda shows the executive session convened at 9:38 a.m. and the court reconvened at 9:57 a.m. before taking the vote.
County officials did not provide a published purchase price in the meeting record. The judge said only that the site will require “minor remodel” work prior to occupancy; no timetable or construction budget was specified. The court did not set a date for the office relocation during the meeting.
The vote followed routine consent and department reports earlier in the morning. The court took no separate action at the meeting to appropriate funds or to set a construction contract; any contracting or budget adjustments would appear on a later agenda, according to the judge’s staff.
The commissioners adjourned after approving routine bills and other agenda items.
