Board sends disputed lakeside variance back to committee after neighbors cite dam and septic concerns

Beard also said only three property owners received mailed notice about the petition and that other lake residents had been inadequately informed.
Planning and Zoning staff had recommended conditional approval with engineering and geotechnical requirements — including a property/topographic survey, a proposed site plan by a licensed engineer, and a geotechnical report delineating dam limits and proposed measures to ensure dam stability if construction proceeds — but at least one board member urged additional local review and outreach.
County Board member Judy Kuhn moved to refer the petition back to the Planning & Development Committee to allow further review and constituent contact. The referral passed 25‑2.
Next steps: The petition returns to the Planning & Development Committee; the committee will review the geotechnical, notice, and engineering concerns and may return it to the Board with recommended conditions or modifications.
