Madison County Board Chairman Kurt Prenzler called a teleconference reorganizational meeting Dec. 7, 2020, where the board seated newly elected members, approved a schedule of regular meetings for 2021–22, adopted committee assignments and appointed Mike Walters chairman pro tem.
The session opened at 5:00 p.m. Central with the Pledge of Allegiance. Chairman Kurt Prenzler appointed a three-member Credentials Committee — County Board Members Mike Walters, Robert Pollard and Eric Foster — to review election certificates and oaths. "I now appoint County Board Member Mike Walters, Robert Pollard, and Eric Foster to serve as the Credentials Committee," Prenzler said. County Clerk Debra Ming-Mendoza told the committee she had the certificates of election and signed oaths for each member except Victor Valentine and asked whether the committee had questions; committee members indicated none.
Following the Credentials Committee's report, Mike Walters moved and Eric Foster seconded a resolution to seat all newly elected members; the motion carried. Clerk Debra Ming-Mendoza administered the official oath and collected signed oaths from the new members, and the Clerk then called the roll of the full board, recording present and absent members.
The board next considered a resolution establishing regular monthly meeting dates and times (5:00 p.m.) for the 2020–2022 biennium. Heather Mueller-Jones moved and Stacey Pace seconded adoption of the schedule; the motion carried. The approved dates run from December 2020 through November 2022 and were adopted for the record.
The board reviewed a set of committee assignments for the biennium, detailing chairs and membership across executive, finance and government operations, health, judiciary, personnel, planning and development, public safety, real estate tax cycle, sewer facilities, transportation and other standing committees. Eric Foster moved to approve the committee rosters and Jamie Goggin seconded; the motion carried.
Mick Madison moved, seconded by Eric Foster, to appoint Mike Walters as chairman pro tem; the motion carried. County Clerk Debra Ming-Mendoza reminded members to consult the county calendar for committee dates and offered Mallory Stoner as an additional contact for clerks' office support. Prenzler thanked outgoing board members before the meeting was adjourned on a motion by Mike Walters and second by Liz Dalton.
The reorganizational meeting was held via teleconference (GoToMeeting) with public access announced through the county's Twitch channel; the Edwardsville Intelligencer published notice of the meeting on Dec. 4, 2020.
