Summary
The County Board approved funding agreements and final payments for multiple transportation projects, including a $450,000 appropriation for Mill Creek Bridge, $600,000 each for Seiler and Sorento road resurfacing, final payments on bridge culvert projects, and a jurisdictional transfer of a portion of Governors’ Parkway to Edwardsville.
Madison County Board members on Nov. 18 approved a slate of transportation project funding and final payment resolutions that will move several road and bridge projects forward.
Key actions included an appropriation of $450,000 from the County Motor Fuel Tax Fund toward replacement of the Mill Creek Bridge on Troy–O’Fallon Road (Section 18-00084-04-BR) and separate appropriations of $600,000 each for Seiler Road resurfacing (Section 18-00097-03-RS) and Sorento Road resurfacing (Section 18-00070-02-RS). The board also approved final payment estimates to contractors for the Lambert Bridge (McCoy Road) and the Vieth culvert (Jerusalem Road).
A jurisdictional transfer removing 1.348 miles (7,120 feet) of Governors’ Parkway from the county highway system to the City of Edwardsville was authorized, subject to Illinois Department of Transportation approval, and the board awarded an $82,000 contract for installation of two replacement screw pumps at Screw Station #4A for SSA #1.
Outgoing Transportation Committee Chair Tom McRae used his final meeting remarks to thank retiring County Engineer Mark Gvillo for 40 years of service and to welcome Greg Schuette as the acting engineer. The measures were adopted unanimously by roll call where recorded.
Work on the resurfacing and bridge projects will proceed under joint agreements with IDOT and follow the county’s capital and motor-fuel tax funding policies.
