At its Aug. 27 meeting the Reeves County Groundwater Conservation District approved a set of Historic Use Permits, approved the proposed 2025 budget and set the proposed tax rate for tax year 2024.
The board approved Historic Use Permits (permit numbers listed in the minutes) including applications from Texas Firms Inc., Westway Ranches LLC, and Zeman Family Limited Partnership, with requested maximum annual quantities and pump rates recorded in the minutes. The motion to approve the Historic Use Permits passed with six directors voting in favor and Director Cecil Lee abstaining.
Administratively, the board approved the minutes of the July 18, 2024 meeting, approved July bills as presented and approved payment of bills totaling $132,897.23 as corrected by Amber Redden. The proposed 2025 RCGCD budget was approved on a 7–0 vote. Directors set the proposed tax rate for tax year 2024 at 0.00275% following a motion by Cecil Lee and second by Nancy Martinez; that motion passed 7–0.
The board also recorded correspondence received from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality regarding draft federal operating permits and general-permit renewals for quarries. The meeting adjourned at 6:21 p.m.
