Rock County signs on to $191,319.70 NC Region 911 system; dispatchers receive 10% pay increase

Commissioners voted to accept Lumen/Vesta’s proposal (motion by Commissioner Smith, seconded by Commissioner Kathleen Sybrant). Chairman Wade Hollenbeck and Commissioner Smith joined Sybrant in a roll‑call approval; the motion carried.
The board also addressed local staffing and equipment needs for the sheriff’s office. Sheriff Shelbourn reported an application for a part‑time evening/weekend dispatcher and mentioned a fully equipped Brown County patrol unit for sale (about 100,000 miles, listed at $20,000). The board took no action on purchasing the patrol unit or on hiring during the meeting.
Separately, the commissioners approved a 10% hourly wage increase for dispatchers for fiscal 2024–25 (motion by Smith, seconded by Hollenbeck).
