Rock County Board approves routine business, hospital license renewal and authorizes election security grant application

The Rock County Board of Commissioners handled routine business at its Oct. 15 meeting in Bassett. Commissioners unanimously approved the Oct. 1, 2024 minutes and the posted agenda. Fee reports for September from the Sheriff, Clerk and Clerk of the District Court were presented and approved.

Commissioner Faye Smith moved and Commissioner Colby Sybrant seconded approval of the Rock County Hospital licensure renewal after Hospital Administrator Stacey Knox met with the board; the motion passed on a unanimous roll-call vote. The board also authorized Kristin Olson, Director of NCDC, to proceed with a State Fiscal Year 2025 Justice Assistance Grant application for election security; that authorization was approved unanimously.

The minutes include an audited list of claims across county funds (General, Road, Library and others) with itemized payees and amounts recorded in the meeting minutes. A motion by Wade Hollenbeck and seconded by Colby Sybrant approved the audited claims by roll-call vote. Commissioners then moved to adjourn at 3:15 p.m.; the next regular meeting was set for Nov. 5, 2024 at 9:00 a.m.

During the meeting Brittany Spieker was introduced as the new Extension Food, Nutrition & Health Educator, and the board noted it is working to fill a Livestock Extension Manager position. Other attendees recorded in the minutes included Road Foreman Waylon Reynolds and Clerk Daunitta Buoy, who handled meeting attestation.
