Highway superintendent: Eagle Ridge funding to be checked; road crew returns to 4x10 schedule and culvert plans underway

Smith said he will check whether the county can obtain funding for Eagle Ridge Avenue and reported that, effective Oct. 1, the road crew will resume a schedule of four 10-hour days. He said the county is pursuing plans to install an oversized culvert at Belmont in the Niobrara Corridor, that the county has contacted the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers about the work, and that Miller & Associates will prepare a quote to draw up engineered plans.
The superintendent’s briefing did not include firm funding commitments; Smith said he would follow up after researching available funding sources. The board did not take a formal vote on any highway project during the Oct. 1 meeting.
