Road Foreman Waylon Reynolds briefed the commissioners on ditch tree and brush-clearing needs and reported that he and Commissioner Colby Sybrant attended a demonstration of a self-contained Diamond Mulcher. The board approved purchasing the mulcher from Jeff Maloun for $12,000 by motion.
Commissioners also discussed clay stockpiles and heard from contractor William Figgins about the county’s upcoming paving work. Figgins said he will begin on WPA Road with a 1½-inch laydown, patch broken spots, then move to Newport Road and apply an armor coat.
The board approved the equipment purchase and discussed scheduling and cost-sharing for future road projects; the Eagle Ridge Ave. cost-share request with UNL was tabled for further information at the Oct. 1 meeting.
