Rock County to hold public hearing after zoning board recommends denying AK Investments hog-barn application

TJ Ellermeier, Assessor and Zoning Administrator, told the Rock County Board of Commissioners on Oct. 1 that the Zoning Board held a Sept. 30 public hearing and recommended not approving AK Investments’ application for hog barns.
Ellermeier said the Board of Commissioners will schedule a county-level public hearing on the application once the County Attorney provides dates that are workable for the board. No final county decision was made at the Oct. 1 meeting; the zoning board’s recommendation was transmitted to county commissioners for further action.
The commissioners did not take a vote on the application during the Oct. 1 session; they instructed staff to coordinate with the County Attorney’s office to set the public hearing date.
The next procedural step is the county-level public hearing, at which the board will hear public comment and consider the zoning application before rendering a final decision.
