Bedford County rejects Above Wireless bid for broadband project; engineers recommend re-bid

The Bedford County Board of Commissioners voted Sept. 9 to reject the bid submitted by Above Wireless LLC for the Bedford County Broadband Infrastructure project after the project engineer, ATCS, Inc., recommended rejection because the bid did not meet the Invitation for Bid requirements.
Planning Director Stephanie Clevenstine explained the engineer’s recommendation and said the county will re-bid the project and open new bids at a subsequent meeting in late September.
The motion to reject the bid was approved by the board. Commissioners said staff and the project engineer will proceed with rebidding and bring results back to the board at a future meeting.
