Greenville council approves parade street closures, awards mowing contracts and backs two Match on Main applications (5-2)

The Greenville City Council on Oct. 18 approved several routine and business-support items, including street closures for the Annual Christmas Parade, multi-year mowing contracts, and two Match on Main grant applications.
Councilperson Moss moved and Councilperson Johnson seconded to close sections of M-91 (Lafayette Street), Cass Street and Grove Street for the Annual Christmas Parade on Dec. 2, 2022, from 4:30 to 9:00 p.m. The motion passed unanimously.
On local economic support, Council first considered a motion by Councilperson Moss to submit Match on Main applications for The White Lotus Boutique and Flo's Pizzeria Ristorante and Sports Bar and authorize the City Manager to sign application documents; that motion failed for lack of support. Councilperson Barrus then moved to submit applications for The White Lotus Boutique and the Winter Inn and authorize the City Manager to sign; Councilperson Linton seconded. That motion passed 5-2, with Mayor Mark Lehman and Councilperson Cunliffe voting no.
Council also awarded four three-year mowing contracts as presented: Belding Lawn Care (Options #1 and #6, not to exceed $26,100 per contract year), Schofield Lawn Care (Options #2 and #3, not to exceed $25,270 per contract year), Heether & Sons Lawn Care (Option #5, not to exceed $8,500 per contract year), and Green Pro Landscape Management (Options #4, #7, #8, #9, and #10, not to exceed $51,890 per contract year). Councilperson Cunliffe moved to award the contracts; Councilperson Barrus seconded and the motion was adopted unanimously.
Other routine agenda items approved on the consent agenda included payroll and accounts payable reports and scheduling a public hearing on Nov. 15 to receive comments on a proposed zoning district boundary amendment. The meeting adjourned at 8:37 p.m.
