Vice‑Mayor Cothran asked that camping be allowed from Thursday night through Monday night at 6 p.m. for the July 2 celebration at the lake; the motion passed unanimously. The Board also agreed by consensus to cancel the July 7 meeting after discussion about rezoning scheduling related to a project of William Hedgecoth.
Jim Stewart and Cindy Sanden updated the board on Fall Festival planning and the 5K. Stewart said sponsorships of at least $1,500 have been received and was given permission to proceed with signing contracts for fixed costs such as timing and insurance; Sanden said she is working to secure additional sponsors. The Board advised Stewart to coordinate with City Manager Johnson and asked the city attorney or staff to review participant waivers; Vice‑Mayor Cothran offered to check past waivers on file. The city indicated it will assist with sponsorship.
Commissioner Coleman reported seeing a tractor trailer on Harrison Lane that blew cardboard onto the roadway. Public Works Director Grant said the department picks up at Wal‑Mart and Dollar General. The meeting adjourned at 7:33 p.m.
