Butler County approves MOU to add CrowdStrike protection on election workstations

The Butler County Board of Supervisors voted Feb. 25 to approve a Memorandum of Understanding with the Iowa Secretary of State to include CrowdStrike on county election workstations.
IT Director Sara Trepp presented the agreement, explaining it is an MOU with the Secretary of State to expand endpoint protection to election workstations. Trepp said the change is intended to bolster cybersecurity around election infrastructure.
Supervisor Rusty Eddy moved to approve the MOU; Greg Barnett seconded. The board voted all ayes and the motion carried.
The board did not provide a detailed timeline for deployment at the Feb. 25 meeting; Trepp or county staff will provide implementation details in a subsequent update.
