Sanitation district reports $10,000 loan repayment and outlines multimillion-dollar sewer plant plans

Bill Drury, chairman of the Spencer County Sanitation District (SCAD), told Fiscal Court on March 17 that SCAD had presented the court with a $10,000 payment as the first repayment toward a $40,000 loan the district received from the county.
Drury updated the court on SCAD operations and planning. He said the estimated cost for a new sewer plant is "around 5 million" and that a collector plan for Elk Creek is expected to cost about $2.5 million. Drury noted the initial $10 million dollars referenced in his report is restricted to sanitation purposes. He said SCAD currently has the capacity to add roughly 200 more homes but that some lines purchased from an older system had not been inspected prior to acquisition.
Esq. Travis asked for a special meeting with SCAD; Drury requested members submit questions ahead of that session so SCAD could provide ready answers. Drury also described efforts toward compliance with the Department of Water and DLG and noted bookkeeping and QuickBooks issues that remain under resolution.
The court accepted SCAD's report and asked the district to work with court members on a follow-up meeting and documentation to address inspection and financing questions.
