Spencer County approves KYTC'recommended rural secondary paving program for 2025'26

Spencer County Fiscal Court on June 2 unanimously accepted the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 5 recommendations for the 2025'2026 Rural Secondary Road Program and adopted a resolution of concurrence to speed delivery of the county's annual paving program.
D. Larry Chaney, P.E., Project Development, Planning Section, KYTC District 5, presented the packet of recommendations and a map of proposed projects and explained that local concurrence helps KYTC finalize funding and scheduling. The packet shows total funds available and a prioritized set of resurfacing and routine maintenance projects for county rural secondary routes.
The court'approved resolution, signed by County Judge Executive Scott Travis and attested by acting clerk Laura Nation, follows the format KYTC prefers because a resolution provides immediate concurrence and shortens the time before work can begin. On the motion of Esq. Eldridge, seconded by Esq. Cotton, the Court recorded an "aye" vote from all members present.
The materials presented identify multiple resurfacing items and estimated costs. Documents in the packet list total funds available for the program and show estimated construction costs for specific segments, including items on KY 1633 (Elk Creek Road) and other county routes prioritized by the District. County and District staff noted that local input is a key factor in final project selection and sequencing.
