After citizen complaint, Spencer County orders inspection of Edmondson Road
Summary
Following a public comment describing drug use and dumping on Edmondson Road, the Fiscal Court asked the road foreman and two disinterested people to inspect the roadway and report at the next meeting; Judge Travis voted no on the inspection order.
A resident's public comment about Edmondson Road prompted the Fiscal Court to order a field inspection. Grant Barnett told the court the road is ‘‘only used a few times a year by the property owner’’ and otherwise becomes a site where people "do drugs and dump stolen cars and dump trash," according to the minutes.
On a motion by Esq. Cotton, seconded by Esq. Stump, the court instructed the county road foreman and two disinterested people to inspect Edmondson Road and return findings at the next Fiscal Court meeting. The motion passed with a majority; County Judge Executive Scott Travis recorded a "nay" vote.
The court did not immediately authorize closure or cessation of maintenance; the action is limited to a site inspection and a follow-up report for future court consideration.
