Court funds animal‑shelter kennels, approves credit‑card payments and OKs sheriff taser batteries

The Fiscal Court approved $2,500 to add portable kennels at the county Animal Shelter after officials said the facility was full and some dogs had been placed in temporary kennels. Judge Executive Scott Travis said a concrete pad had already cost about $2,500 and the court approved an additional amount for more kennels.

The court also approved equipping the Animal Shelter to accept credit‑card payments through Certified Payments by Deluxe. On law‑enforcement equipment, the Sheriff reported several donations of taser equipment from Middletown and Louisville Metro but said current tasers were obsolete and replacement batteries were needed. The court approved a purchase of taser battery packs and a six‑bay dock station totaling $5,172.73 to make donated equipment operational and to supply existing issued devices.
