Spencer County approves one zoning request, schedules second readings of several ordinances

Spencer County Fiscal Court approved a zoning change and announced forthcoming ordinance hearings during its Oct. 6 meeting.
Julie Sweazy, the county zoning official, reported that the court approved a zoning application for a tract on Indian Ridge Court (Sheri Goss) to change from AG-1 to AG-2 based on planning commission findings of fact. Sweazy also gave first-reading notices for other requested zone changes and for an amendment to the Spencer County Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance (Ordinance No. 5, FY 2025–26). The court scheduled special and regular meetings to accommodate second readings and meet statutory deadlines.
The court also appointed two disinterested reviewers (Joy Thompson and Greg Murphy) to inspect Edmondson Road with the road foreman and return a recommendation on whether the county should continue maintenance; a public hearing was set for Oct. 20 at 6:30 p.m.
