Simpson County fiscal court approves $151,244 jail transfer, budget line changes and routine bills

The cash transfer motion was made by Magistrate Marty Chandler and seconded by Magistrate Jeffrey Burr; the motion passed unanimously among members present. The court then approved several budget transfers, including a $35,000 shift to Employee Health Insurance from a Medical Contract line and other smaller transfers affecting public safety, roads and courthouse supplies; Scott Poston moved the transfers and Myron Thurman seconded them.
When the court considered bills and claims (a multi-page list of vendor payments, payroll totals and service charges), Magistrate Jeffrey Burr moved approval and Scott Poston seconded; votes recorded were Burr, Poston, Thurman and Judge/Executive Mason Bames in favor, and Magistrate Marty Chandler opposed. The minutes list several large payments, including a payroll total line and a $152,163.54 payment to Sunbelt Construction. No additional discussion or roll-call explanations for Chandler’s dissent were recorded in the minutes.
The court entered an executive session at 9:01 a.m. under KRS 61.810(1)(c) to discuss pending or proposed litigation and exited at 9:22 a.m. The meeting adjourned at 9:23 a.m.
