Simpson County approves 2025 budgets for county clerk and sheriff with pay increases

The court also approved Simpson County Sheriff Jere Hopson’s 2025 calendar-year budget of $3,399,861.00, which includes a 3% employee pay increase. Magistrate Marty Chandler moved the sheriff’s budget approval, which passed on a unanimous vote of those present.
Alongside the budget totals, the court approved Annual Orders setting maximum payroll funding for deputies: $444,252.00 for County Clerk deputies and $2,739,426.00 for Sheriff deputies and assistants. These orders establish the maximum authorized amounts for deputy salaries in each office for the 2025 calendar year.
The court recorded and approved related budget transfers and motions affecting departmental maintenance and reserve lines during the same meeting. The fiscal court approved the December financial statement subject to audit and authorized signatures of Judge/Executive Mason Barnes and Treasurer Nicole Law.
