Jail and sheriff reports show steady operations; county attorney to draft medical-cannabis workplace policy

As of the meeting the jail held 91 inmates composed of 36 state inmates, 10 from Clinton County, 1 from Green County and 44 from Russell County. The court accepted the detention center report by unanimous motion.
Sheriff Jason Polston provided December activity statistics including 505 911 calls, 47 arrests, numerous transports and 367 vehicle inspections, and stated the office collected $897,530.43 in taxes. The court accepted the sheriff’s report by motion.
Separately, County Attorney Kevin Shearer told the court he had discussed how counties are handling employees who are prescribed medical cannabis and offered to draft a policy to be incorporated into the Fiscal Court’s administrative code; the court asked him to present the draft at the February meeting.
Other business included a report that November alcohol fee collections were $3,545.29, an update on outreach to a potential manager for The Inn (interest did not materialize), and discussion of memorial options for fallen officer Josh Phipps; Judge Marcum asked the family to return with preferences. The meeting adjourned at 10:25 a.m.
