Fiscal Court advances first reading to discontinue maintenance on three local roads

Treasurer Kim Blanchet described the requests: Paul Kean Road (District 1, length 0.026 miles), Kays Drive (District 2, 0.110 miles) and W.E. Thomas Road (District 4, 0.219 miles). Blanchet said homeowners own surrounding property and petitioned to discontinue county maintenance. The court approved the motion to discontinue county maintenance and said the process of road viewers, signage and legal advertisements would follow; a second reading is scheduled for the March meeting.
The action at this meeting served as a procedural first reading; no final removal from the county maintenance list is effective until the second reading and required public-notice steps are completed.
