The Kittitas County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 2, 2026, approved a set of routine personnel and administrative actions, including a Maintenance Tech reclassification, authorization for state-agency letters regarding Multi-Use Road Safety Account Proviso projects, and county PAFs and vouchers.
Jeanne Killgore, HR Director, requested permission to post a vacant Maintenance Tech I position as a Maintenance Tech II to recruit a more experienced applicant and to allow Assistant Maintenance Director Cody Cupp to assume more administrative duties. Killgore told the Board the change would cost about $2,500 for the year. The Board approved the request "as presented." (No mover/second or roll-call names were recorded in the minutes for this item.)
Vice-Chairman Brett Wachsmith moved to approve and authorize Board signature on a letter to the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) regarding Multi-Use Road Safety Account Proviso projects; Commissioner Laura Osiadacz seconded and the motion carried 3-0. Wachsmith and Osiadacz repeated an identical motion and second to approve a letter to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) and WSDOT; that motion also carried 3-0.
The Board also approved and signed County employee Personnel Action Forms (PAFs) and vouchers as presented; the minutes record approval without listing a mover or a roll-call breakdown.
The Board recessed into an executive session under RCW 42.30.110(g) at 9:37 a.m. to evaluate the qualifications of an applicant for public employment or to review an employee's performance and reconvened at 10:02 a.m. with no action taken during the executive session.
Other administrative follow-ups recorded in the meeting minutes included directing staff to list department-head evaluation dates on the Board whiteboards for 2026 and authorizing the purchase of a microwave for the employee breakroom from the maintenance budget.
