Fleming County approves $1,516,000 HUD grant to extend sewer, water to Industrial Park IV

Fleming County Fiscal Court on Oct. 8 approved a $1,516,000 U.S. Housing and Urban Development grant to extend sewer and water infrastructure to Industrial Park IV. Buffalo Trace Area Development District Community Development Director Kristie Dodge presented the grant details and answered members’ questions before the court voted unanimously to accept the agreement and authorize next steps.

The grant agreement covers sewer and water infrastructure for Industrial Park IV. The court also authorized Buffalo Trace ADD (BTADD) to issue a request for qualifications for infrastructure engineering services if needed and gave County Judge/Executive Sims authority to sign and execute all documents tied to the grant.

County officials said the funding is intended to enable development-ready infrastructure in Industrial Park IV and to position the site for industrial prospects; Dodge represented BTADD at the meeting and invited questions about project administration. The court’s action completes the local authorization necessary for the county to move forward with grant administration and project procurement.

There was no public objection recorded at the meeting. The next procedural steps described by BTADD include selection of engineering consultants (if required), final planning and compliance steps tied to HUD rules, and document execution by the judge/executive.
