Fleming County Fiscal Court approves budget amendment, contracts and board appointments

Magistrate Ray H. Money called the Fleming County Fiscal Court to order at 9:00 a.m. on Nov. 12, 2024, and the court moved through a series of routine approvals, unanimous votes and a set of administrative actions.
The court approved the second reading and passage of Ordinance 24-1411, a budget amendment, on a unanimous vote after a motion by Magistrate Joe Dunaway Jr. County Treasurer Miranda Utterback presented month-ending balances for Oct. 31, 2024 showing total all funds of $1,966,197.18; the court unanimously accepted the Treasurer’s monthly financial reports.
The court authorized vendor agreements including an RCS siren maintenance contract at $140.00 per month and an ABS agreement for the dispatch office copier and printer. It also authorized sprinkler repairs at the maintenance garage by Koorsen for $2,823.16 and approved Swartz Mowing to perform litter pickup services, with claims to be paid from the identified accounts. The court voted to solicit sealed bids for a three-year janitorial contract for the judicial center, courthouse and maintenance garage; bids will be opened at the December meeting.
The court accepted Judge Sims’ recommendation to appoint Steve Brown and Chris Mitchell to the Extension District Board for terms effective Jan. 1, 2025, through Dec. 31, 2027; the appointment motion was approved unanimously (motion by Taylor Hunt). The court also approved routine items including approval of minutes, claims reports, budget and cash transfers and the county road maintenance report for October 2024 totaling $541,046.25.
