Fleming County Fiscal Court approves budgets, board appointments and a $7,500 sheriff’s office renovation

The Fleming County Fiscal Court on Jan. 14 unanimously approved a package of routine fiscal and administrative items, including quarterly and monthly financial reports showing $2,648,381.95 across county funds and the first reading of a budget amendment ordinance (Ordinance 25-1413).
County Treasurer Miranda Utterback presented the Treasurer’s reports showing balances across funds: General Fund $1,754,524.63; Road Fund $48,426.65; Jail Fund $12,047.99; LGEA Fund $178,754.15; Forest Fire Fund $1,218.69; CDBG Fund $0; Dispatch Fund $172,784.57; Clerk’s Storage Fund $16,329.97; ARPA Fund $38,262.55; Opioid Funds $248,455.49; Capital Improvement Fund $177,577.26. The court approved budget transfers and cash transfers as presented.
The court approved appointments to the Fox Valley Recreation Park Board: Cindy O’Connor was appointed on the County Judge/Executive’s recommendation and Chris Earlywine was reappointed on Magistrate District Four’s recommendation; both terms are effective Feb. 9, 2024, through Feb. 9, 2027. The Fiscal Court also approved the 2025 County Employee Holiday Schedule and accepted claims and carry-in claims reports.
Fleming County officials approved the Fleming County Clerk’s month-end report for Dec. 31, 2024, the clerk’s 2025 budget and 2025 salary order, and the clerk’s fourth-quarter report. The Fleming County Sheriff’s monthly and fourth-quarter reports were also approved.
County Road Supervisor Anthony Vise reported difficulty contacting Compass Minerals to order road salt and cautioned that delays could create shortages for the rest of the winter; he said the county may need to accept a higher-bid vendor to maintain adequate supplies. The court approved Thompson Brothers Construction to perform $7,500 in renovations at the sheriff’s office and accepted the jailer’s report. The meeting adjourned at 10:14 AM.
