Kittitas County to send draft short‑term rental rules to legal review; board asks for resolution to dissolve advisory committee

Community Development Services Director Chad Bala updated the Kittitas County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 12 that the county’s short‑term rental advisory committee approved a draft set of development regulations and has submitted that draft to the county’s legal staff for review.
Bala told the commissioners the next step is to present the draft regulations to the Planning Commission and the public in July and to include a 30‑day comment period. At the study session the board agreed to have a resolution to dissolve the advisory committee drafted and brought back for review at the next study session.
The session included no formal vote on adoption of rules; instead, the item remained at the staff and Planning Commission review stage. The board’s directive to bring a resolution to dissolve the committee is a procedural step toward ending the advisory body, with any formal dissolution requiring later review or action by the Board.
