Kittitas County commissioners reopened discussion on Jan. 5, 2026 about wording and outreach tied to a Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (LTAC) "check" intended to celebrate projects awarded tourism funding. Commissioner Laura Osiadacz reported she had met with LTAC and wanted the matter revisited so Commissioner Cory Wright could share his concerns.
Wright told the board he did not believe any celebration should occur until projects were fully completed. LTAC member Jessica Karraker said the committee's intent was simply to celebrate projects that have been awarded funding and that, if the physical check itself was the issue, it could be removed.
The board directed Amy McGuffin, Chamber CEO, to draft proposed press-release language and an outreach plan for review by LTAC and the Board of County Commissioners. Commissioners also agreed to schedule a joint meeting between the Board and LTAC, at which Legal should be present to review language and provide a year-end recap of LTAC accomplishments.
No formal vote was taken on messaging at the meeting; the next step is the joint meeting to review the draft language and outreach plan.
