Cheatham County commissioners approved the distribution of Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) funds for employees and related school/cafeteria budget amendments during the Dec. 19 session.
The board approved an ESSER allocation to be distributed to school employees (full‑time $750, part‑time $375) with a not‑to‑exceed figure of $772,820 for School Federal Projects. The Central Cafeteria fund was amended for up to $68,190 to support staff bonuses and purchases, and a separate Central Cafeteria amendment of $135,170.82 was approved to buy industrial ovens for HHS, CCCHS, SHS and ACESA. The Extended School Program (daycare) received a not‑to‑exceed $68,190 allocation as well. Board of Education votes were recorded where required; the county budget vote for the ESSER distributions recorded 9 Yes, 0 No, 1 Absent and 2 Abstain (two commissioners abstained on the ESSER item).
County staff identified ESSER funds as the source for the employee payments and listed the Central Cafeteria fund balance as the source for the industrial ovens purchase. The actions were recorded as Resolutions 9 and 8 in the meeting packet.
