After candidate withdraws, Cheatham County legislative body casts deciding vote for Constable District 5
Summary

Cheatham County's legislative body resolved a tie in the District 5 constable election during its Aug. 15 meeting.
County Attorney Michael Bligh presented two options available under state law: the legislative body can cast the deciding vote between tied candidates or call for a run-off election at the November ballot. Jack Terlinden told the body he had withdrawn from the election. Commissioners then moved to exercise the legislative deciding vote (Alternative A) and cast that vote for Thomas (T.J.) Collier. The motion passed by roll-call vote 11–0 (Randy Liles absent).
Ending: The clerk's office recorded the resolution and the outcome in the minutes; the county will implement the statutory process to certify the officeholder. No further action on the matter was taken at the meeting.
