Cheatham County commissioners approved a new contract with the Ashland City Fire Department on June 27, formalizing fire, emergency medical first-responder and rescue services for the Ashland City Rural Fire District and related response areas.
The contract (Resolution 9, Exhibit A) sets a primary service fee to Ashland City of $184,144.17 for the 2022-23 year, with scheduled 3.5% annual increases in subsequent contract years. The county also agreed to a supplemental Pleasant View contribution (Exhibit A) and an annual $200,000 distribution pool the county fire chief will allocate among rural departments; Exhibit A lists $27,500 shares for Ashland City and Two Rivers, $27,500 to Kingston Springs (via the Kingston Springs district), and other specified distributions, plus $30,000 reserved for the County Fire Association.
The contract clarifies primary response zones, dispatch configuration for certain highways and river calls inside county limits, and payment schedule (50% by Jan. 15 and 50% by March 15 each contract year). Commissioners approved the related motion by roll-call vote.
Separately the commission approved an amendment raising the annual automatic increases in other fire contracts to 3.5% (Resolution 10), aligning those agreements with the increase built into the Ashland City contract.
What happens next: The county will begin scheduled payments for FY2022-23 under the contract and the Fire Chief will allocate the $200,000 rural distribution on or after Oct. 1 as specified in the contract.
