Commission raises impact fee, adopts six-month trial public forum rules and makes appointments

At its July 17 meeting the Cheatham County Commission approved several governance and fee changes affecting development and public participation.
On the Calendar, Rules & Nominating committee's recommendations, commissioners approved a six-month trial of new rules and procedures for public forums (passed by roll call 9-2 with one absent). The body also voted to raise the county impact fee from $3,000 to $4,000 effective Sept. 1; the resolution included a breakdown of the $1,000 increase ($3,500 for Education Debt, $250 Parks & Recreation, $250 Road Department) and passed 11-0 with one absent.
The commission appointed Jason Cannon to the Industrial Development Board to fill a vacancy with a term through Dec. 31, 2025, and established an Emergency Services Committee with named commissioners. The consent agenda (notary commissions) was approved and the meeting adjourned at 6:53 p.m.
