Snowflake adopts business-license code changes in unanimous vote (Ordinance 2024-08)

The Snowflake Town Council voted unanimously Dec. 3 to adopt Ordinance 2024-08, a set of text amendments to Town Code intended to update business-license requirements and add language allowing the town to revoke permits in specified circumstances.
Staff member Brian Richards said the ordinance stems from conversations with the town’s auditor, who recommended language many nearby communities use to ensure fees are collected and licenses can be revoked when necessary. "This came about when we talked to our auditor," Richards said, explaining the proposal’s intent to bring the town’s business-license procedures into alignment with common practice.
Councilmembers discussed the measure briefly, with Cory Johnson and Byron Lewis noting that updated language would protect town revenues while still allowing staff to work with local businesses. The council approved a motion to read the ordinance once by title only and then voted to adopt Ordinance 2024-08; both motions passed unanimously.
Ordinance 2024-08 now becomes part of the town code; staff said they will implement the code language and work with businesses to ensure compliance.
