Snowflake swears in four new councilmembers; Mark Sheen named vice mayor

Mayor Byron Lewis opened the Snowflake Town Council meeting Dec. 3 and presided over the swearing-in of four newly elected councilmembers, who were formally welcomed before the council moved on to business.
The council administered oaths to Joe Bjornn, Mark Sheen, Travis Kay and Reid Stinnett. “Thank you to all who swore in our new council members,” Mayor Byron Lewis said after the swearing-in.
In the first formal leadership action of the evening, Mayor Lewis nominated Mark Sheen to serve as vice mayor; Greg Brimhall seconded the nomination and the motion passed unanimously. The designation followed a brief organizational roll call earlier in the meeting.
The newly seated members then participated in the remainder of the meeting’s agenda, which included routine consent business, land-use items and an ordinance updating business-license language. The council adjourned at 8:21 p.m.
Next steps: the council’s procedural organization is complete for the year; agenda items approved later in the meeting proceeded under the newly constituted body.
